Review SteamMachine from HomeRight by Oh My Goodies

Do you get tired of scrubbing your oven or grill every time it gets dirty?

Are you looking for a easier way to clean it up?

If so I have something that works and is easy on the pocket!

This is the SteamMachine by HomeRight

HomeRight Steammachine included in package

The SteamMachine comes with everything you see,

At first the steamer intimidated me.

I was scarred to use it. I always seen these

and guys used them. Well.. I overcame my fear

and I battled this machine. I felt crazy for being scared

in the first place. The SteamMachine is so easy to use.

The instructions are easy to read.

The instructions are simple to follow.

The only thing I didn't like was you had to wait

for the steam to build. Then when my dad and I

sat down to check out this machine it hit me.

Well yeah it is going to take a while for steam to be made.

You have to allow the water to get hot to

produce steam. It's like boiling water!

So what I did was I knew I had to do my hair.

So I went and filled the machine and then plugged it in

and turned it on. Then I left it to go do something else.

Once I was done with my hair I came back and the Steam Machine

was ready to rock and roll!

My first battle was my oven.

Oh My Goodies Oven before the SteamMachine

This is what my oven looked like before I

used the Steam Machine. I let it get dirty

just so I could use this machine!

Stovetop before HomeRight SteamMachine

At first I battled the top of the oven.

I took everything off. The nobs the grates over

the burners. Then I let loose! I went to town!

I would spray the top then wipe. Then repeat!

I was so impressed at how easy it got the grease

and the food off of it.

Then came my big challenge.

The dreadful inside of the oven!!!

Its like something out of a horror movie!

Inside of Oven before the HomeRight Steammachine

I used the tip that was like a little wire brush.

It was so easy to get the mess off the inside of the oven!

I was so happy that my oven went from the lead in a

horror movie to the lead roll in a cooking show!

Here is the inside after I was done with it!

Inside of oven after the HomeRight SteamMachine

I think I need a new camera!

But as you can see the door is beautiful.

the inside is great! I am in love with my oven

again!!!

Here is the top of the oven after I used the SteamMachine

on it!

Stovetop after the HomeRight Steam Machine

SO CLEAN!!! I am so in love with my

clean stove that I don't want to use it.

My family has been kinda mad since I

cleaned it. I don't want to cook in it or on it

in fear it will get dirty! But on a second note.

If it gets dirty I have the easiest and most awesome

cleaning tool to clean it.

The best part is that there is no chemicals.

No fumes I have to breath in. No turning the

oven on to super high temps.

Which means my house will stay cool and

my oven becomes beautiful!!!

I Painted Our Bathroom! by Decorchick!

As written by Decorchick! on April 26, 2013

I’m slowly but surely getting rid of the beige walls that are everywhere in our home, and I’ve pretty much succeeded in several of the rooms! I guess the only beige rooms left now are the bathrooms, and the upstairs hallway/catwalk. I haven’t done anything to our bathrooms until recently, and I finally painted ours grey!

Painted walls with the PaintStick EZ-Twist

Remember it used to be a sea of beige. Beige walls and beige ceilings. Gag.

Walls before the PaintStick EZ-Twist

Walls before the HomeRight PaintStick EZ-Twist

Homeright sent me their Paintstick EZ-Twist Paint roller to use and I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to use! I am not a big contraption type of person and just usually prefer my old school stubborn ways. But this was extremely easy to put together and use.

HomeRight PaintStick EZ-Twist bathroom walls

I put it together and filled up the roller with paint.

HomeRight PaintStick EZ-Twist draws paint directly from the can

It’s great because the handle sucks up the paint from the can and then you just paint the walls or ceiling or whatever you’re doing. You don’t have the mess of a paint tray or anything so it was pretty handy that the paint would just dispense as needed. And just imagine that handle filled up with paint. I wanted to get a picture of it sucking up the paint but I did this when my husband was out of town and I needed 2 hands to do this. And I don’t quite trust my 3 year old with the camera.

I used it to paint our ceiling in the bathroom white.

Bathroom ceiling painted with the PaintStick EZ-Twist

Although since the grey I used is a very pale grey, it’s hard to tell in the picture that the ceiling is white!  This next one shows it a little better.

White ceiling and grey walls with PaintStick EZ-Twist

Since there were so many places to cut in and not a lot of wall space in our bathroom, I only used the paint stick for the ceiling because I needed a shorter handle for the awkward wall space. I love it for ceilings and it comes with a splash guard as well. The clean up was a bit more than I am used to as far as painting goes because I’m lazy. Duh. And these rollers have to be washed and you have to clean the paint out of the handle of course when you’re done. It is good since it’s reusable and that will save you some money in the long run. So if you don’t mind the extra 5 or 10 minutes for clean up, you’re golden!

I painted the ceiling in Alabaster from Sherwin Williams (same color as our bedroom walls and ceiling and kitchen cabinets), and the walls I painted in Agreeable Grey, also from SW. It’s a very pretty light grey and sometimes it does have a soft blue undertone and it’s very pretty in the bathroom. And it goes well with our navy blue bedroom wall. I especially love how the color looks at night!

And since I told you all I’m painting the vanity coral already, I’m not quite ready to reveal it yet so I have to hide it out of these photos. Hehe.

But aren’t my towels fabulous?

Decorchick! towels in freshly painted bathroom

Yes leave it to Anthropologie to have the perfect colors of anything I ever need. I tried 10 other places first and no luck I swear.  And same for bath rugs. Why doesn’t anyone make cute bath rugs??! Except Anthro of course.

Bathroom rug in freshly painted bathroom - PaintStick EZ-Twist

Gah! Oh well. We needed some and ours were about 5 years old anyway. I swear that store was made for me and the colors I want to use. Haha.

I’ll show you more of the new bathroom soon! The vanity came out so pretty and I love it with the crisp clean walls and ceiling. Kill the beige! You know how everyone is all “kill comic sans,” well I’m all for killing the beige! :)

If you have any paint projects coming up try out the HomeRight Paintstick EZ-Twist Paint roller. I think you will like it!  And I’ll show you the vanity soon. :)

xxoo,

Decorchick!

3 Reasons to Use a Paint or Stain Sprayer on your next project

April 29, 2013 - Minneapolis, MN – Using paint or stain sprayers can be intimidating, especially if you haven’t used one before. Here are 3 reasons the NEW HomeRight Titanium Series paint & stain sprayers are the right tool for your next project.

Reason 1: Save Time with the Flex-Pro Suction Tube. The new HomeRight Titanium Paint& Stain Sprayers have some notable improvements over other models; one of these being the patented Flex-Pro suction tube inside the cup for drawing the paint or stain into the sprayer. “The Flex-Pro suction tube eliminates spitting because it moves with the paint or stain in the cup; either up for spraying ceilings or down for spraying decking“ says Dan Bruggeman Vice President of HomeRight.  The HomeRight Titanium Paint and Stain Sprayers also have a check valve which prevents paint from running out of the suction tube to keep the sprayer primed and ready to go at all times. For those really large projects hook up the sprayer to the included suction tube kit and draw paint directly from the can.

Reason 2: Professional Results. No question about it, paint and stain sprayers lay down a great finish, no brush or roller marks to be seen. The HomeRight Titanium sprayers have adjustable a flow control allowing the user to easily control the spray pattern. Adjusting the sprayer is easy, watch how here: http://goo.gl/dWD4y

Reason 3: Titanium Piston Technology Ensures a Long Lasting Sprayer. If you are making the investment in an Airless Paint or Stain Sprayer, you want this tool to last awhile. The HomeRight Sprayers are built to last. “The piston can be the first point of failure if any moisture gets into the sprayer and sits on the piston. Moisture can cause the sprayer to cease and stop working. The Titanium sprayers are made with a titanium coated piston, meaning they are corrosion resistant and durable” Bruggeman comments. Included with the HomeRight sprayers is a long term storage kit to help you take care of the sprayer for the long run. You can see how to use the long term storage kit here: http://goo.gl/mnwzq

HomeRight SteamMachine Steam Cleaner

I never knew how much my life could benefit from a Steam Machine until I met the Steam Machine Multi Purpose Power Steamer. We've lived in my house for 8 years now and I am constantly amazed at how dirty the floors can get!  It's horrible!

I'm not much of a mop person.  I'm not sure why.  I just clean my floors with a rag and cleaner on my hands and knees.  It makes me feel like I am actually cleaning and not just rubbing the dirt around.  Well, that's what I thought... then I used the Steam Machine on my floors!

There's definitely a good reason why they call it a Multi Purpose Steamer and that's because it has so many different functions. From room-to-room the Steam Machine is amazing! If you need to remove wallpaper, simply use the Steam Machine to quickly remove it and best yet - it's chemical free! The kids drag in a little dirt on your carpet? No problem, use the attachment to not only clean up the carpet, but also to sanitize your tile, hardwood or vinyl floors. And that's not the only thing it sanitizes either! Use it to sanitize your kitchen area including your stove top and oven. And don't forget about your grills and bathrooms!

One of my favorite things to use the Steam Machine for is my dirty kitchen floor. It sanitizes my floors while cleaning them at the same time. The steam blasts them clean and then I use the cleaning pad to wipe them clean. It does a much better job than me scrubbing them on my hands and knees!  And it's so much easier too.

How does it work?   The Steam Machine works by pressurized high temperatures to efficiently steam away grime and dirt, grease, and even bacteria.

Included in the SteamMachine box

The Steam Machine includes:

•Owners Instruction Manual

•Two Nylon Brushes

•Jet Nozzle

•Brass Brush

•Squeegee

•Floor Steam Mop With Microfiber Cleaning Pad

•Wallpaper Steam Plate

•Measuring Cup With Fill

•Funnel

Use the Steam Machine with ease by grabbing the handle and then using the two wheels to roll it around with you wherever you may need it. Take advantage of the 8 foot hose to reach hard to reach places both high and low. Rest assured - your purchase is totally covered with a two year guarantee.

New HomeRight FinishMax™ Fine Finish Sprayer

0

For Immediate Release

May 7, 2013 Minneapolis, MN – HomeRight announces that the CommandMax HVLP sprayer will be repositioned in 2013 as the FinishMax fine finish sprayer. The reason for this change according to Dan Bruggeman, Vice President of HomeRight “Our consumers are using this sprayer for woodworking finishes and furniture refurbishing; we felt that we should have the product name closely match what the sprayer is used to accomplish. We want to help our consumers select the right product for their projects so they complete the project faster and the easiest way possible.”  Bruggeman goes on to say “Retailers have gravitated to this idea and feel that HomeRight is right on the mark with using the product name to explain what projects and what finish the product will be used to accomplish.”

Best in Class - The FinishMax out performs equivalent price point HVLP (High Volume, Low Pressure) sprayers with less overspray and a finer finish and with finer atomization. The Finish Max also has greater user control with three-way spray setting giving precision control. The versatile spray adjustment allows for control even when spraying difficult irregular surfaces. The spray pattern  on the Finish Max varies from 1 to 6 inches.

How it Works Our high–volume, low-pressure technology uses a high-volume of air at a low-pressure to apply the finish. Using lower pressure assures significantly less overspray, thus allowing the user to ultimately direct the paint or stain where it should go, on the project.

Project Uses: furniture, trim, radiators, cabinets, shutters, lattice, deck spindles, louvered doors or any detail project requiring a fine finish.

Materials The Finish Max HVLP Sprayer sprays materials such as clear sealer, polyurethane, primer, stain, varnish and thinned paint. It’s also a smart alternative to spray paint, which comes in handy when you want to spray a color that isn’t available in a spray can.

MSRP: $89.99

POWDER ROOM PAINT (WITH A EZ TWIST!) by Thrifty Decor Chick

0
0

As written by Thrifty Decor Chick on May 14, 2013

Hey hey all!

So a few weeks ago during our conversation a conversation with a friend I mentioned that I’ve only painted most of the rooms in our house once. She kind of laughed and didn’t believe me, but it’s true – half the house was the original color for eight years, and the master and bathroom, my stepdaughter’s room, the kitchen and family room and more have only been painted once and have stayed like that forever.

There’s a couple rooms I’ve painted like eleventy billion times though, so I think that’s what led to her confusion. But I’m on a mission and most of those other rooms I mentioned will be painted…someday?

The powder room is one of those rooms that’s been painted a lot -- five different colors to date. Two of those within the past couple of weeks. Over the course of two days. ;)

Well the folks from HomeRight contacted me a few months ago asking if I wanted to try out one of their paint sticks and I was like yeaaaahhhh!  I was so excited when they arrived and I got two! One is just a normal paint stick and one is the EZ-Twist, special!:

HomeRight PaintStick EZ-Twist and PaintStick

I needed to get the powder room painted – there is so much other stuff to do but I’m avoiding painting that wood paneling again till I absolutely have to, so this was easy in comparison. I’ve had that blue color up there (I honestly can’t even remember what the name of it is it’s been so long), and then I experimented with the red and I just needed it all covered and DONE.

I went back and forth on colors before deciding I really wanted a nice neutral. The art I’m planning to hang and the accessories will bring in a ton of color, so I wanted a nice, clean backdrop to it all. I had half a can of the Analytical Gray (Sherwin Williams) left so I figured why not use it up!

OK so here’s the thing – it seriously took me longer to get the paint stick out of the plastic packaging than it did to figure out how to use it. ;) It wasn’t hard at all – you just take the little nozzle jobby and clip it on the side of the paint can:

HomeRight PaintStick Fill Tube with Clamp

Then you place the stick on it (it’s already assembled when you get it), flip a little switch, then pull back on the stick and watch the paint get sucked in!:

HomeRight PaintStick EZ-Twist fill directly from the can using the fill tube

The first time I used it I didn’t suck enough up in there (you want to make sure the stick is mostly full) – but you just place it back on the nozzle and pull again to fill it up more.

I gotta say, I really, really liked this tool. I talk to myself when painting and I may have mentioned a few times “this is so cool!!” to…myself:

Thrifty Decor Chick painting with the PaintStick EZ-Twist

A picture of the blogger!! Whuuut!

When I paint I have this weird fear that I will run out – even if it’s a tiny room, I will use as little on the roller as possible. You should not do this by the way. :) I end up pushing too hard to get it out of the roller on the wall, and it ends up killing my shoulders by the time I’m done.

This stick totally took care of it all for me – I just twisted as I went to get more into the roller. I was surprised at how little I had to twist too. And it went on SO stinking smooth. Every time I paint I have to watch for the lines of globby paint along the side of the roller because I push so hard. I didn’t see any while using this.

So it took me no time at all to get the walls done – seriously like ten minutes? I still had to cut in, but I realized pretty quickly that the color wasn’t what I wanted. It was too dark for what I envisioned – this color works great in our big open spaces in the house with lots of natural light, but in here it was a little drab.

So I went back to the paint deck and went with Agreeable Gray (SW) instead. I ended up cutting in first this time:

Painting without a tray using the PaintStick EZ-Twist

And then I used the paint stick to paint…again. :)

I LOVE it!!:

Agreeable Gray Sherwin Williams Paint

It’s a great neutral backdrop for the room. So light and pretty, it’s just perfect. And it still pops plenty against the white wood. (Ignore the paint all over the crown, it all still needs painted and caulked from years ago. Surprised?)

I especially love how it looks against the light blue ceiling. You know how I love those painted ceilings!

I’ll probably only show you one more part of the room before the final reveal – maybe by next week?? (Crossing fingers, toes, everything.) My to do list is getting crossed out slowly but surely – but then I remember all kinds of things I need to add to it too. ;)

Overall I really liked using the paint stick and I will use it again – it made the whole process go much easier and faster. The only part that takes time is cleaning it out – but after doing it once it was much faster the second time.

The good news is there is progress in this room, the best news is the lovely folks at HomeRight are offering TWO of the PaintStick EZ-Twists to two of you! Awww. yeah!

Just leave a comment here by Thursday the 16th at 9 a.m. to be entered to win. (Leave an email too!) That’s it! (And if you’d like to pick up one yourself you can find them at Lowe’s.) Have a LOVELY day!

Using a Finish Max Fine Finish Sprayer with Chalkboard Paint by My Repurosed Life

My Repurposed Life Shed Photo

I recently decided to clean out my storage shed. It’s one of the places where I store my inventory. You can see a few empty spaces where I’ve pulled some stuff out.

Storage shed by My Repurposed Life

I didn’t quite “gut” it, but I did remove most of it to organize it better. See that arrow pointing to the cabinet doors?  They’ve been there for awhile.   I gathered them.  All the cabinet doors were in pairs, with the exception of the tallest armoire door.   It is the mate to my chalkboard in the kitchen.

Command Max, now Finish Max

You can see it laying on the top, with all the smaller ones underneath.   I gathered all the supplies I normally use when paint spraying: my beloved Command Max, now called Finish Max Fine Finish Sprayer, a ladle, and bowl (with water), a mesh strainer,  a paint brush (just in case I get a run) and a respirator mask.

My Repurposed Life Spray Booth

I ready my booth.  I hung plastic with a staple gun. I use scrap 2×2’s to hold the plastic down. Note the pallet is on top of the plastic.   You can’t see them, but I use the scrap boards on all 4 sides of the plastic. There  is a lot of air moving around when you use a paint sprayer.

Paint Sprayer for Chalkboard paint

I sanded the boards lightly after I filled the (knob) holes.

Sprayed finish of the Finish Max using Chalkboard paint

While I was at it, I sprayed two huge artwork pieces I picked up a few months ago. Look at that fine finish!  Homeright hit the nail on the head with the name of this sprayer.

This is the armoire door after I used some oops paint  to frame it out.

I lightly distressed the edges.

Chalkboards spray painted with the Finish Max HVLP Sprayer

Look how big that top chalkboard is-over 4 ft!!  I used DIY chalky paint on the frames of each of these, then applied two light coats of wipe on poly.

My Repurposed Life Chalkboards

I used the vaseline distressing technique on the one on the left, and left the one on the right all chalkboard.

Cabinet Doors painted using Finish Max HVLP Sprayer

I believe these are the heaviest of all of the doors.  They are really solid.

Cabinet doors with chalkboard paint

Chalkboards HVLP Sprayer

Whenever I paint long doors, I attach the d-rings on the back so that the one on the bottom right will swing around and allow the chalkboard to hang either horizontally or vertically.

I wish I could decorate a chalkboard as well as Ipiccy.

I don’t have my hands on the new Finish Max Fine Finish HVLP Sprayer yet, but I look forward to taking it for a spin.

This is not a paid post. Homeright has been generous to furnish me with a new sprayer, but you know all opinions are my own. I LOVE this sprayer, and I feel that if you do a lot of painting, it can save you time and energy, especially when painting spindles and/or louvered doors!  yikes!  I’ve painted enough of those by hand.

Paint Tools That Will Change Your Life & PaintStick Giveaway (she: Rebecca)

I hate painting, always have! I hate the preparation, execution and clean up that come with painting. However, I love how a room can be transformed by a simple coat of paint.

I was lucky enough to buy a home that was mostly painted with bold colors I probably wouldn’t have chosen myself (because I’m a wimp), but that I love! I say mostly painted because the kids’ bedrooms and bathroom were painted white with that awful paint that builders use. I managed to slap some color on the kids’ rooms years ago, but the bathroom has remained white and boring. That is until last week!

Before the PaintStick EZ-Twist

Bathroom after PaintStick EZ-Twist

I was lucky enough to receive a PaintStick EZ Twist from HomeRight, and my kids/guest bathroom was the perfect room to try it out on! I cracked open the box and was happy to see that the directions were short and sweet, the “parts” limited and the assembly incredibly simple. The only challenge I ran into was using the can cover and fill tube because they are designed for a gallon of paint instead of the pint I had.

HomeRight PaintStick EZ-Twist

Let me back up and explain how cool the PaintStick EZ Twist is. It sucks up paint directly from the paint can and feeds the paint to the perforated roller just by twisting the handle.

HomeRight PaintStick EZ-Twist holds paint in the handle

It immediately solved most of my issues with painting … paint trays, drips, spills, constantly bending down to refill the roller … you get the idea. But the best part is it cut the actual time it should have taken to paint the bathroom down drastically. Just watch this video to see what I mean!

It was even easy enough for my four-year-old to use!

HomeRight PaintStick EZ-Twist, so easy

The one problem the PaintStick EZ Twist couldn’t solve for me was edging (I think the official term is “cutting in.”). I loathe having to prep areas by tapping everything first. So, I tried out another little tool that came highly recommend by a good friend … the Wooster Pro Angle Paintbrush. I was promised that it would create a precise line at the ceiling, along molding, etc. and it did! I didn’t tape a single thing in my bathroom, and it came out perfectly.

HomeRight PaintStick EZ-Twist by HomeRight

Between my new favorite brush and the PaintStick EZ Twist, I may learn to love painting! Want to fall in love with painting again too?!? Then be sure to enter our giveaway for a chance to win your very own PaintStick EZ Twist. All you have to do is leave a comment on this post.  So easy!!

Good luck, and happy painting!

SteamMachine Cleaner Review by Woman of Many Roles

As written by Woman of Many Roles on May 30, 2013

This is a sponsored post.  As with all the products I blog about, I use them personally and opinions are my own, I was not influenced in any way by the compensation I received.

Okay Ladies I know I am not alone in this thought….It sucks cleaning ovens!! Who all agrees with me? I can’t stand it. Everything about it drives me nuts! Especially smelling those chemicals that I used to clean it. But then I learned I didn’t have to with the Steam Machine.

Oven from Woman of Many Roles

Before

About the Steam Machine

“The Steam Machine uses pressurized, high temperature, steam to loosen and dissolve dirt, grease, grime and kill bacteria. Its many uses include; kitchen counter tops, ovens, stoves, bathroom fixtures and barbecue grills.”

Oven after HomeRight SteamMachine

After

My Thoughts:

I am in love with this machine! I spent all of maybe 30 minutes cleaning my oven. Just look at the difference! I have to admit part of the time was taken up by figuring out what tool was the best one to use. It was super easy to put together and get started. All I had to do was put some water in it and let it hit up for about ten minutes. Then pick the best attachment. Which I figured out that it was best to start with the long plastic and then use the metal wire brush attachment one. My favorite part there was no smell to it. It got the job done (and better!) than the cans of sprays that I use to use but will no longer. For a number of reasons such as: there is no chemicals, it’s quicker, easier, and in fact a WHOLE lot less scrubbing. Just after using it that once my mind went to the number of ways the Steam Machine could be used for. My next project is cleaning the shower!! However, once I told my mother in law about the Steam Machine she wants to try it out on her Camper to get some old stickers off. Just think about the options are endless on what you can use a Steam Machine on! What would you use it on?

New HomeRight Deck Pro™ with Gap Wheel Stain Applicator for Decks

June 5, 2013 - Minneapolis, MN – A fresh coat of stain can do wonders for enhancing the look of a weather-beaten wood deck. “Most traditional pads and brushes don’t cover the inside spaces between boards, this is the main reason that HomeRight designed the innovative Deck Pro with Gap Wheel, which incorporates two steps into one” says Dan Bruggeman, Vice President.  The HomeRight Deck Pro with Gap Wheel allows you to stain the surface of the deck boards and the gap between the boards in one pass. The spring loaded wheel drops ¾” down in-between the boards to stain board edges while the stain pad is staining the top of the deck boards. “The non-sticking Gap Wheel easily moves with the applicator and climbs in and out of the board gaps without snagging or getting stuck” states Bruggeman.

Deck Pro with Gap Wheel stains in-between Boards

The Stain Applicator Pad is comprised of ¼” flocked neoprene material and can hold up to 3 ounces of stain; this is nearly 300% more than a brush or foam applicator. The flocked pad has approximately 18,000 fibers per square inch which works stain thoroughly into the wood without streaking.

HomeRight Deck Pro Gap Wheel stain between boards

The comfort grip pivoting handle can be attached to an extension pole for added reach while staining.  The adjustable pivoting handle allows the handle to bend down and fit under railings. The Deck Pro with Gap Wheel is loaded by dipping the pad into a standard paint tray.

* Disclaimer, HomeRight gave Savvy K a SteamMachine in exchange for a review of the product.

Just recently, I had the chance to review one amazing cleaning machine – the Steam Machine from HomeRight. I have been looking for a steam machine for awhile now because they are a much better way to clean without all the chemicals of other cleaning products. Not only that, but it is so much cheaper!

HomeRight SteamMachine Steam Cleaner

HomeRight is a great company that sells products to help you with all of you do-it-yourself projects! They have many great items including paint sprayers, stain applicators, prep tools and the amazing SteamMachine!

The HomeRight SteamMachine is a multi-purpose power steamer that comes with so many attachments! The SteamMachine uses pressurized, high temperature, steam to loosen and dissolve dirt, grease, grime and kill bacteria. The SteamMachine attachments include…

  • Wallpaper steam plate
  • Floor steam mop with microfiber cleaning pad
  • Brass brush
  • Two nylon brushes
  • Jet nozzle
  • Squeegee

The SteamMachine is great way to clean your house without all of the chemicals of other cleaning products! It also saves you money from buying these products every few weeks. With just one Steam Machine, you can clean practically every room in your house! It can be used to clean kitchen counter tops, ovens, stovetops, bathroom fixtures and barbecue grills. I personally loved to use it for my bathtub and the inside of my microwave. My microwave always seems to get the most dirty out of all my kitchen appliances, probably because it gets used so much. This bad boy really did a great job cleaning both the microwave and bathtub!

Below you can see the before and after of getting the dried crayon off of my bathroom walls. This steam cleaner did an amazing job!

Cleaning bathroom tile with the HomeRight SteamMachine

I also used the SteamMachine to clean around areas that are hard to clean like the bathroom faucet and around the toilet. It did an amazing job!  The attachments worked great and really helped. I even used the steam mop attachment to clean my kitchen area. Since we live in a small space, we don’t own a mop because it would take up to much room and really isn’t worth having to get out a mop, bucket and soap for just the 4ft x 10ft of flooring. That is why I loved this attachment, it is perfect to have for small spaces!

Now that I have talked you into loving this amazing little cleaner, how about your chance to win! Enter at Real Reviews by Savvy K to win a SteamMachine!

Deck Stain Update by Extreme How-To Editor Matt Weber

HomeRight StainStick Holds Stain in the Handle

I recently spruced up a pressure-treated deck with the new Transformation Deck & Fence Stain from Sashco. This particular deck has very little shade during the day and takes a lot of abuse from the sun. The 2×6 boards were beginning to check even though I had re-stained the decking about 18 months ago. It was time for a new coat.

One of the nice things about the Transformation product is that it can be used in conjunction with other water-based stains and drying-oil based stains. If the stain contains non-drying oils and the stain was applied in the last 18 months, the stains won’t be compatible and you’ll need to strip off the non-drying oil with a pressure washer (and then sand down the fuzzy wood left by the high-pressure stream).

HomeRight Deck Washer Water-Jet Broom

Of course, as with any staining project, you’ll want to make sure that you’re applying the stain over a sound surface free of any dirt, debris or loose wood fibers, etc. (I had to patch a few areas with exterior wood filler.) I then used the Deck Washer tool from HomeRight to scrub the deck prior to stain application. The Deck Washer uses a standard garden hose combined with a long-handled brush to scrub the boards with pressurized water.

Transformation is a hybrid oil-in-water formula that applies easily with an applicator pad, brush or sprayer. If using a sprayer, I recommend back-brushing the stain to work it deeply into the wood grain.

Draw stain directly from the can with the StainStick

For this project I used the HomeRight StainStick for application. Much like a large stain-filled syringe, the StainStick draws and stores wood stain from the container as you draw out the plunger handle. You can then apply the stain evenly from a standing position by depressing the plunger as you move the applicator over the deck surface, pushing stain gradually into the pad. It’s an easy and tidy way to apply the stain without sloppy spills or overspray.

Push handle to feed stain to the deck using the StainStick by HomeRight

I also used the new HomeRight Deck Pro with Gap Wheel Stain Applicator. This cleverly designed applicator pad features a padded wheel that slips between deck boards to apply stain down into the joints.

HomeRight Deck Pro with Gap Wheel

The Transformation Stain leaves a nice matte finish. I used a redwood tone to closely match the stain I had applied in years past, but Sashco offers the product in 6 colors. Another welcome feature of the stain is that it should be easy to re-coat in the future. When it’s time for a maintenance coat, Sashco says there’s no sanding required—just give it a thorough scrubbing and apply a fresh coat. Sounds easy enough.

Get between the boards with the HomeRight Deck Pro with Gap Wheel

And I like easy. It’s always nice to spend less time working on your deck and more time enjoying it.

Using a Paint Sprayer by The Hunted Interior

As written and posted by The Hunted Interior on June 28, 2013

We are loving our new console we built!  Especially since the weather forecast isn't looking so great for Chloe's third birthday party this weekend.  Looks like the party is moving inside & this baby just became the dessert buffet!

The Hunted Interior reviews the Finish Max HVLP Sprayer

The top two questions about this piece were about paint!  What is that color?!  & How did you get that smooth finish?!?  First things first... color.  This was Behr Interior/Exterior High Gloss Enamel color matched to Sherwin Williams Hep Green ( SW6704 )

It seemed that nearly every image I pulled as inspiration had this bright limey yellow in it.  So I decided to go for it.  I mean when have I ever shied away from color?! We at HomeRight thing the color is great!

Now for that factory finish!!!  I got to use a new tool.  Ya'll know I love a new tool.  And anything to make painting easier is even better.  The lovely people at HomeRight sent me this baby!

HomeRight Finish Max Fine Finish Sprayer

Let me introduce you all to my new best friend, the HomeRight Finish Max Fine Finish HVLP Sprayer.  Quite a mouth full I know, but for the job that she does I will call her whatever she wants!  For those of you who are curious, HVLP stands for High Volume Low Pressure which basically means it produces a high volume of air at a lower pressure.  This is what helps to produce that factory finish.  Now the best thing about this machine is that it requires no air compressor!  It simply plugs in & you are ready to go.

Ready to laugh?  I made my first ever VLOG! I'm not sure if it's a legit vlog or not, but I made a little video {emphasis on little } on how easy this sprayer is to use.  No face time this go around, maybe next time!

I do sound a bit like an infomercial, but it really is that easy!!  The instructions provide all the info regarding thinning down your product, whatever it may be... paint, stain, enamel, even oil based products!  & yes, the clean up is really simple as well.

For our console I only used less than one quarter of a quart of paint!  Had I brushed this on I would have used at least half a can, so you are able to get more bang for your buck.  Plus, the dry time is so quick.  Because the layers go on so smooth & thin (but with definite coverage) the paint dries so fast.  I was able to get a coat of primer & four coats of paint on within an hour & a half.  Nuts!

The Hunted Interior How to Use a Paint Sprayer

I can't wait to paint more pieces & even get brave enough to try an oil based paint as well.  If you have ever considered getting a Sprayer, this one definitely gets my recommendation!

By Kristin Jackson The Hunted Interior*I was sent this product to review, but all of the opinions are all my own.  This product really is fantastic!
